Pulp Fiction – Ezekiel 25:17

Filed under: Day to day — jorge @ 22:04

I just saw a clip on youtube.com, the part in Pulp Fiction where Samuel L. Jackson supposedly quotes the bible. But did you know that most of what he says is made up?

He says:

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the Valley of Darkness; for he is truly his brother’s keeper, and the finder of lost children. And, I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers! And, you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee!

Looking up the quote on the internet though, this is what we get:

and – quoting IMDB :

The passage from the Bible that Jules has memorized was mostly made up by Quentin Tarantino and Samuel L. Jackson. The only part that’s similar to what the Bible says is the part where he says, “And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee.” However, the parts about the righteous man and the shepherd are not real.

Having said that, let’s have a look at the clip:

If that isn’t brilliant, I don’t know what is. :)

Stuffed and content

Filed under: Day to day — jorge @ 22:46

What can I say, no one can make dinner like my Marte can. I’m officially back on the horse, meaning I’ve returned to work fully, and am now working 100%.  And I’ve also been offered a new position at work, so I’m quite thrilled about that! Getting up at 5am is pretty tough, but the joy of working with what I do more than makes up for it. It actually got me thinking the other day, about how few really have the pleasure of working with something they have a passion for. In my case it’s Linux. My new boss has signed me up for a RHCT (Red Hat Certified Technician) course in about two weeks’ time, with the 5th and final day being the day we attempt to complete the certification. So I really need to start getting hold of some books, and getting some first-hand experience with setting up a RedHat system. Truth be told, I’ve been working with Linux for years, and I’ve barely touched upon RedHat, so that needs to change. With time, I’ll hopefully be able to move to RHCE and then a SuSe-certification. But till that time comes, I’ve more than enough to do at work. And I’m quite pleased about it. I’m glad to have found the passion to work with Linux again. Having been so low as I was, in that deep dark hole, I can honestly say that few things are more pleasing than being able to come home from a long day at work, be with your better half and son, and take a deep breath, feeling your body and mind being tired. So I am content. Stuffed and content. Right now, life is good. Bring it on Monday, I eagerly await your challenges. :)
