A step in the right direction

Filed under: Day to day — jorge @ 21:59

This is my first real 2010 post I guess. Tomorrow work awaits, so I’m getting ready for bed as we speak. Bed by ten? Yep, that’s the way of life for someone who has to get up damn early in the morning.

So first of, Tales of Vesperia for the Xbox 360 is -awesome-. I really recommend it for people who like RPG type of games. Also, Marte, the IPod Touch has saved my life. Reading on it with Stanza is awesome.

I’m awaiting Lost Odyssey in the mail, and going nuts!

Now that I’ve whined, over to some gratitude.

Life, right now, is wonderful. I have a wonderful girl by my side, and we have two lovely sons. Our newborn, Noah, seems to be awake more during the night than during the day. But when he opens his eyes, it’s hard to imagine that he is seeing some things for the very first time, and feeling things. Like his dad’s ticklish beard in his face, or his mom’s long hair. Michael is growing every minute, and he’s starting to make decisions for himself, starting to find out who he is. It’s really amazing. I can’t imagine a life without these three, and that is what I mean by a step in the right direction. Things were really difficult for me and the Mrs in the past, but things seem to finally be turning our way. We’re sure working to make it that way. So here’s for 2010, hopefully a wonderful year for our little family.

Fedora 11 post updated

Hellooo.

I’ve now updated the post Fedora 11 on the Acer Aspire One with a new thing; How to enable autologin.

I will also be explaining how to properly format your USB-pen so that making a Live-USB is easier, and less troublesome. Head on over and have a look. :)

What to do, what to do

Filed under: Day to day — jorge @ 09:03

My blog has been kind of on hold for about a month, not having much to write about. We went to Mallorca though, to Alcúdia, to be specific. The beach and hotel were great, except for when it rained. Try entertaining a two year old in a hotel where there’s nothing to do when raining. I bet you’re just longing for home, aren’t ya. I know I was. But the few sunny days we had were great. I sort of miss it. :)

I recently quit World of Warcraft, again. The guild was going for an achievement, and I screwed it up, and felt really really bad afterwards. When a game starts making you feel bad, that’s when it’s time to quit, especially for me, as I was addicted to it like 1+ year ago, or around there. But my problem now is, what to do? I’m currently playing Bioshock on my Xbox 360, and I could always buy more games for the console, but even there you can only play a limited amount of time before it gets boring. And I can’t read at home either. I spend 3 hours in total each day traveling to and from work, and having a sort of anxiety-problem, the books distract me when in a crowded place. If I read at home during my free time, I’d go out of readingmaterial pretty quickly.

Speaking of which, I just finished the Twilight-series. -Excellent- is all I have to say about it. If you’ve been as big as fool as I am, you’ve probably seen the first movie before reading the books. Big mistake. I highly encourage you to read the books first, then the movies. They only get better, and the last book, Breaking Dawn, is awesome.

I’ve now moved on to Best Served Cold, by Joe Abercrombie. Only read about 20 pages, but it seems very promosing. I can highly recommend his other books though. If anyone has any suggestions for any books I might read, I’d highly appreciate it.

Getting my groove on

Filed under: Day to day — jorge @ 18:37

Today I bought myself Batman: Arkham Asylum for my Xbox 360. Still I continue my quest to acquire the best of games! I am going to try it in a few minutes, but first let me also say; I got myself a Yamaha GL-1 guitalele! It’s one nifty little thing, and let me tell you, it gives an AWESOME sound. At first I had bought a Mahalo USG-30-BU (the blue guitar), but it was utter crap. It was a pain to tune, and all of the reviews were bad.

Of course I discovered this after the thing arrived in the mail. Always dig up some information before buying stuff. Upon reading reviews though, I came across the Yamaha GL-1, and no one had anything bad to say about it. Just check out this video on youtube, and tell me you’re not impressed by the sounds it can put out. I am looking forward to playing this beauty below even more.

Ah, before I forget, the standard tuning for this little piece of work should be A-D-G-C-E-A. You can find a tuner at http://www.play-bass.com/online-tuner, just select Guitar and Custom Tuning.
